With the season nearing it's end, the Bruins decided to place veterans George Parros and Andy Sutton on waivers while picking up two younger forwards in Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Zac Dalpe. Neither player is expected to dress this season, but both will have a chance to earn a roster spot in the future.
Neither Parros nor Sutton had seen many games during the season and due to the fact their contracts were up at the end of the season, management felt it was time to move on. The decision to release Parros was especially difficult as he had been a well-liked member of the Bruins team and had also won a Cup with the team. Sutton on the other hand wasn't going to play next season due to a knee injury. Therefore it was a unanimous decision to let him go and give him time to recover and a chance to sign somewhere else should he be able to come back.
No one can really replace Parros, but team scouts like Labrie and see some potential in him as a checking line forward down the road. He's got size, plays with grit and is a good team player. Dalpe on the other hand feels more like a work in progress. We don't expect him to make the team right away, but he's got some offensive upside that hopefully can make him a regular in the big league.
